Fauna [noun]: A pretentious term for the local wildlife which can range from harmless to obnoxious to dangerous, all of which have a problem with dogs but not dumbass people, apparently.
This was the last of the training peaks before our thru hike of the High Sierra Trail. The summer temps were getting too hot to safely do the last two mountains on the list.
But this trail, my friends! Absolutely amazing. Giant rock boulders that my mother would die for, very private campsites with a backcountry privy to boot, constantly amazing views; what more could a girl ask for?
Well, there was the almost turn back because the first three of only four water sources were dried up, a spider bite that swelled up real nice (my vote is black widow), and the rattlin’ nope rope welcome committee. Oh, and we couldn’t bring Leinie because dogs are too disruptive to the wildlife. Not the bumbling people who wear jeans and flipflops and bring no water, those the wildlife are completely fine with. Logic. So we brought his picture so he could join us in spirit.

Our tramily packed up the Yellow Submarine for some camping and hiking fun at altitude. Our goal: summit our first Colorado 14er, Mount Sherman.
