Sandra’s Pick: House Lager

When beer is on the line, no mountain will stand in our way. On our way down from High Point of Palomar Mountain, we saw that we had a little over an hour to buzz over scree-filled two miles and drive down the road to the only place to find beer on tap in the next twenty miles. We needed to fly, so fly we did.

While not technically a brewery, Garage 79 is a beer-seeker’s oasis in the arid landscape of middle of nowhere southern California. The town of Oak Grove isn’t even a legal town but a “census-designated place” so legally this miracle in the desert is listed in Warner Springs. They serve a rotating tap list from different craft breweries and host a food truck to fill your belly. I had the house lager and was so tired I didn’t even bother to check which brewery made it. But it was gooood.
