Sandra’s Pick: High Altitude

Jake’s Pick: Descender IPA

Our first venture into the beer culture of Bend had us anxious. So many good reviews of Bend; the city, the beer, the culture. It had built up this unintended expectation of the promised land for us. We ventured into this promised land with our hopes carefully checked, no need for a repeat of the Batman fiasco of 2005.

A shared patio of two breweries, bar, dispensary, bike shop (Jake), and theater pub complete with food trucks. What can I say? We’re easily won over? The Thursday local special had $4 pints and $12 growler refills. We were smitten. Jake kept muttering under his breath about something being too good to be true. Meanwhile, I was happily enjoying the sweet smell of pine while sipping my beer. If first impressions matter, Bend took first place.
