Sandra’s Pick: Sofa Queen Bitchin’ IPA
Jake’s Pick: Sofa Queen Bitchin’ IPA
Those who know me, know I despise, loathe, and deplore biking after taking a header about 10 years ago and skinning myself from my left forearm to collarbone. Anywho, the few times I bike now usually involve beer. That was true for this occasion as well. Enter Payette Brewing Co, perfectly located along the flooded river greenbelt of Boise.
The patio and brewery were an oasis on a warm, sunny day. With the slogan “bitchin’ IPA” how could I not pick it? Pick it, I did. My friends, the angels cried. I’ve experienced only one other brew-induced enlightenment, when I discovered Honeyweiss by Leinenkugel. Now Honeyweiss is the perfect beer, akin to the peanut butter cup. Nothing can improve this beer, it is perfect as is. Not to say that you can’t enjoy other beers, I enjoy m&m’s, and a plethora of other brews in the right time and situation. But this, this is the perfect IPA. Jake agreed, it was truly bitchin’. I skipped inside to buy a six pack only to discover it was an annual brew for International Women’s Day and would be discontinued once supply ran out. I settled for a growler and I cried inside for the perfect IPA that exists only at this particular time. The growler lasted less than 48 hours.
